Martin was born and bred in Barnstaple and has always lived in the town. He joined Tarka Radio at the beginning of 2019 having no previous radio experience but with an interest in entertainment and music.
Martin’s background is financing and he currently works for Sodexo based at North Devon District Hospital.
Martin has spent over 35 years volunteering with the North Devon Scout Association holding various leadership roles in that time. He has also spent 35 years involved with the North Devon Scout & Guide Gang Show, an annual show of songs, dance, music and comedy held at the Queen's Theatre, Barnstaple which gives the youngsters of the local Scout and Guide Groups the opportunity to experience performing on a theatre stage and develop skills for life. For 25 years, Martin was the Show producer retiring from the role after the 40th annual Show in February 2019. He continues to be active with local Scouting.
Martin's other volunteering roles have included the London 2012 Olympics as a Games Maker at the main Olympic Park from two weeks before the Games started until after the Closing ceremony working as part of the Accreditation team.
Over the years, Martin has managed to climb the Sydney Harbour bridge and complete the London marathon.
